Fearing crack down, Nigerians in Goa flee to Mumbai, claim two Goa BJP MLAs supporting killers

 

 

At least over a 100 Nigerians fled the State of Goa on Thursday night to reach Mumbai on Friday, fearing a widespread crackdown against them. Vakola near Santa cruz East in suburban Mumbai and Mira Road on the outskirts of Mumbai are known to be Nigerian and African strongholds with almost 300 Nigerians living in Mira Road itself. Some Nigerians have married Indian women from the lower strata of society including house maids and domestic helps which enables them to get local support here.

Nigerian Murder: Process to deport Nigerians begins

 

 

PANAJI: The foreigners registration office (FRO) has begun verifying the passports and travel documents of the 52 Nigerians arrested on Thursday for holding up the NH-17, damaging public property, and clashing with the police, following the murder of countryman Obodo Uzoma Simeon.

The police department too is expected to soon begin combing operations to identify foreigners staying in Goa illegally and those with criminal cases against them so as to deport them.

Fearing witch hunt, Nigerians in Goa plan to move HC & National Human Rights Commission

 

 

As reported earlier on Newz66.com, at least a 100 Nigerians fled the State of Goa on Thursday night via motor bikes and any other and every means of transport they could find, to reach Mumbai on Friday, fearing a widespread crackdown and witch hunt against them. The Nigerians who are present in strength in Mumbai, Bangalore and Delhi have formed a group and plan to move the National Human Rights Commission, besides the High Court of Bombay at Goa, it is learnt.

One dead, three hurt as ‘drug peddler gangs’ clash in North Goa near Calangute

 

 

A Nigerian was brutally killed and five other Nigerians injured in an alleged clash of two gangs in the early hours of Thursday at Parra.  The fight appears to have been between drug peddlers from the African country and an Anjuna-Chapora-based gang of Goan drug peddlers. According to sources, the attack was the fallout of a recent drug bust where an African national was nabbed in Panaji by the Narcotics Control Bureau with cocaine worth over Rs1crore.
